The Inner Advocate® executive coaching method.
A conversation with The Inner Advocate® is primarily about the inner work needed to succeed in work and life. The Inner Advocate approaches working with you based on the following principles:
holistic (you are a professional, but you are also much, much more than that);
systemic (including the many different parts of your life that have influence or an investment);
expansive (in line with your desire to learn and grow);
future-orientation (moving toward the greater purpose you imagine for your life both professionally and personally); and
sustainable (that our work together has a lasting effect for your life but does not negatively impact the planet we share).

What kind of conversation is right for your needs? Could a blend support you?
What is Positive Intelligence®?
The Positive Intelligence® program is the recommended place to start when you have never proactively worked on your emotional intelligence abilities (such as self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, or relationship management) or you want to bolster the abilities you have already developed so far. The Positive Intelligence® program, also known as the PQ Mental Fitness Program, is based on Shirzad Chamine’s New York Times bestselling book Positive Intelligence®. The PQ Mental Fitness Program boosts your root-level building blocks that then automatically improve the known 18+ Emotional Intelligence competencies.
This is the right choice for you if you are a) absolutely committed to improving your human performance and effectiveness while reducing stress, b) looking for a science-based and trusted system to make it stick, and c) willing to put in the time and energy to rewire years of mental habits that aren’t serving you. The Positive Intelligence® program is six intensive weeks of individual work coupled with ten meetings with The Inner Advocate®
What is Professional (Executive) Coaching?
Professional (executive) coaching is a trustworthy, structured, and deep-thinking conversation between an executive or high-potential professional and a highly trained professional coach. You will appreciate having an unbiased thinking partner when talking about your unique professional or personal challenges. During a classic professional coaching conversation, The Inner Advocate® supports you to clarify current goals, identify and work through your limitations, and, ultimately, formulate appropriate action steps toward professional or personal success in your defined areas. More about executive coaching can be found here.
This is the right choice for you if you have a specific goal to work on and are ready to invest in yourself in order to take the steps to reach that goal. The amount of time needed for coaching heavily depends on the type of goal as well as your willingness (both in time and effort) to work toward your goal. Some goals can be achieved in as little as 8 sessions (spread across 4-6 months); other goals require far longer (even up to several years).
What is Advanced Coaching?
Advanced coaching is for the individual who knows that learning is an essential aspect of growing as a person as well as a critical part of professional life and leading other people. Advanced coaching enhances your existing self-awareness and provides you with further insight, both of which are essential ingredients for further development. Through regularly scheduled conversations with The Inner Advocate®, advanced coaching draws on deeper transformative tools for you to capture richer learnings from specific work or life experiences as well as celebrate progress on your journey. In looking forward, you set your intentions as well as consider your aspirations for different time periods ahead.
This is the right choice for you if you already have reached a strong level of self-awareness and continue to place a high value on learning and growth as a part of your personal and professional development. Advanced coaching will be more effective for you across longer time periods. A minimum of a twelve month period of regularly scheduled advanced coaching is recommended. (Sessions may be weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly.) A single annual advanced coaching conversation is also a highly valuable addition to your personal and professional development (this type of conversation requires at minimum of two hours).
What is Professional Supervision?
Professional supervision is when a professional (coach, lawyer, or other service provider), with the help of a trained supervisor, deeply reflects on their clients, themselves as part of their client relationships, and the wider context of their work (and life). Through regularly scheduled conversations with The Inner Advocate®, our supervision work will access even more creative and transformative techniques to support you and your work where you need it most at the time, whether it is developmental, qualitative, or resourcing.
This is the right choice for you if you provide services to clients and place a high value on self-development alongside strengthening the work that you do. For us to work together, you:
are generally competent in the skills of your work. Our work together will not be about the content of your work per se; instead, we will focus on the processes and dynamics that could be influencing the work.
are ready for deeply transformative conversations. You have prior experience with an ICF-certified coach, another professionally-trained supervisor, and/or a therapist or similar helping professional. *If you feel you have done a lot of quality developmental work on your own, let’s talk.
enjoy learning and developing and are open-minded. You sense there is information you are missing in your work (or life) and want to stretch to find it, regardless of the source. You are open to working with emotions, intuition, embodiment, writing, creativity, physics, spirituality, and more.
are action-oriented and self-accountable. Usually, you do not need a lot of hand-holding once you have the insight you need to take action and follow-up. You consistently take responsibility for your career and life.
Supervision is usually a monthly appointment, but we can agree on whatever rhythm you feel suits your professional or personal needs best. I do not accept short notice/emergency sessions nor one-off appointments.
